A friend of mine loves him some Futura. His favorite flavor? Extra Bold. I discovered this the other night while eating some delicious pizza at Patsy's on 74th. He was wearing a navy colored t-shirt with "futura" on it. Lowercased. Regular. The kerning was all jacked up. I made note of said kerning and he mentioned how he loved Futura ... but that extra bold with a tight (and proper) kerning was his favorite flavor.

Ever since that night Futura Extra Bold has been stuck in my head. I see things and think, "That should be set in FEB." It's like a poison. It haunts my dreams ...

Anyone that knows my taste in type knows I love bold (black, depending on the face) type. If they know that much then they know I love Helvetica Neue ... and anything by Underware. So, this venture into Futura feels like I'm cheating on Helvet and Sauna and Bello and Proxima Nova and Gotham and, and, and ...

So tonight I made this new obsession known with a site commemorating my adulterous affair with Futura. It's not a bad word, but it's close. Enjoy. But, I must warn you ... it's addictive.
